Laptop Vertical Stand

Storage

All 3D Models

This is a simple stand for your laptop. I made this as a way to store my laptop vertically, when I'm not using it. The vertical part of the design was an important aspect, for me, when concocting this thing. It needed to store my laptop away whilst taking up as little space on the desk as possible – which this does.

A thing to note is how lightweight it is. The stand will hold the laptop but the weight and size of the (I.E. my) laptop makes it easy to tip over, if you’re not careful. A couple of things you can do to rectify this are:

  1. scale the model up in your slicer to (creating a bigger surface area); and/or,
  2. make the stand out of a heavier material, using the technical drawing (see below).

Personally, I placed a bit of Blu Tack under each leg and stuck it to the desk. I thought about screwing it down, but the Blu Tack has held up so far.

I should note here, the stand should be okay to hold most modern day 13-Inch laptops. As long as your laptop is less than 20 mm (0.78 in) in height, you should be good to go. To put that into context, Apple’s M3 MacBook Pro series (14 in) are 15 mm (0.61 in) in height.

Printer Settings

The settings below are the main ones I used when printing the model.

  • Layer Height: 0.28 mm
  • Infill Density: 20%
  • Supports: Yes
  • Rafts: No
  • Filament: PLA

The figures below on based on using Cura 5.6.0 and the settings above.

Estimated Print Time: 5 Hours 46 Minutes Material Usage: 43 g, 14.41 m
