If you're like me, you'll usually have cables dotted about your home. Typically,
you would throw them in a draw or box, and not think about them for
months. Unfortunately, I've got a collection of cables I need to use
semi-regularly. So, keeping my cables accessible enough to grab quickly, without
constantly being in the way was a problem I wanted to solve.
My solution to the problem was to attach a bar to my Kallax
bookcase, as
you can see in the images below. I decided to go this route instead of buying a
pre-made bar because I didn't want to deface the bookcase. This way I can attach
the bar, and remove it, without doing any damage to it. Furthermore, it makes it
easier to expand the design (on the bar) in the future, without worrying about
the state of the bookcase.
Unfortunately, you need to provide your own rod. The download link below only
contains the models for the end connectors. Regarding the rod, as long as you
have something which is less the 39 mm in length and 19 mm in diameter, you
should be good to go.
